Euchre is a straightforward trick-taking game featuring a trump suit, designed for four players in fixed partnerships seated opposite each other.

In this free version of Euchre, each participant is dealt five cards, with one card turned face up from the remaining deck. The game's name traces back to a 19th-century Alsatian game called Juckerspiel.

Gameplay overview:

Round 1 - Choosing Trump: Turn Up a Card

Players may select the suit of the face-up card as trump, pass their turn, or opt to name a trump suit and choose to go alone against the opposing team. If all players pass, the "naming trump" phase proceeds with the face-up card turned face down.

Round 2 - Naming Trump

In this stage, players can name a different suit (excluding the face-up card), pass, or declare a trump suit and go alone. If the "stick the dealer" rule is active, the dealer—being the last to make a choice—will be compelled to name a trump; otherwise, if this rule is off, the dealer button shifts to the next player and cards are reshuffled.

Card ranking in Euchre:

1. Right Bower: Jack of the trump suit
2. Left Bower: Jack of the same color as trump (treated as part of trump)
3. Ace through Nine in the trump suit
4. Ace through Nine in non-trump suits

Note: In Euchre, the left bower is effectively considered part of the trump suit and is no longer associated with its original suit.

Scoring system:

• Bidding partnership (makers) wins 3 or 4 tricks — 1 point
• Bidding partnership wins all 5 tricks — 2 points
• If a player goes alone and wins 3 or 4 tricks — 1 point
• If a player goes alone and wins all 5 tricks — 4 points
• Defenders win three or more tricks — 2 points
